WHAT IS A CALAMITY?
Under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 (Republic Act 10121), a "state of calamity" is defined as "a condition involving mass casualty and/or major damages to property, disruption of means of livelihoods, roads and normal way of life of people in the affected areas as a result of the occurrence of natural or human-induced hazard".
THE PROCESS
STEP 1: SUBMIT
Pass the following on the DSWD website:
(DSWD-SB-PS-F-001) Application Form signed by the Agency Head or his/her authorized representative.
Project proposal approved by the head of the Agency on the intended public solicitation activity including the work and financial plan on the activity to be undertaken.

STEP 2: WAIT 1-2 DAYS
Fast-Lane Service
The DSWD accreditation process will have a "Fast Lane" with a processing time of 1-2 days and give priority to the accreditation process. Required documents will be accessed through the website.
STEP 3: GET VERIFIED
Receive the permit, badge, and Certificate Number issued by the DSWD Field Office through e-mail and their official website. Your Certificate Number can now be found on the DSWD website’s VerifAid page.
THE PERMIT
The permit features the official VerifAid certificate number and logo. It will be valid only until the date specified in the permit.

Donation drives also have the option to place the VerifAid logo in their publications once they are accredited, in order to reassure the public of their legitimacy.

Why should we donate to VerifAid accredited organizations?
With the number of calamities that strike the country yearly comes the increase in NGOs that aim to help the victims in need. However, many take advantage of the situation which results in a rise in fraudulent cases of donation drives. Donating to VerifAid accredited organizations ensure that your help will reach your intended beneficiaries.
Why should we apply for a VerifAid Certification?
Acquiring a VerifAid Certification legitimizes the cause of your organization and your operations. Under the DSWD's Revised Omnibus Rules and Regulations on Public Solicitation, only VerifAid accredited organizations can legally solicit to extend help to victims of calamities.

How long does the VerifAid Certification last?
Since VerifAid only aims to accredit organizations during a state of calamity, the certification only lasts for up to 3 months.
How can donors ensure that my VerifAid Certification is valid and legitimate?
The VerifAid website has a database that holds all the currently accredited organizations with VerifAid certifications that can publicly be accessed by the general public, including your donors.
FINANCIAL DONATIONS
How can I donate to DSWD's VerifAid Certification program?
You can provide financial support to the VerifAid program and help continue the cause by donating to DSWD through any of its bank accounts. More details and information can be viewed on the Donate page on the menu above.

How can a donor verify that their donation to DSWD has been processed?
Gifts made via credit card can be verified through your credit card company. Gifts made via check can be verified by your bank. Additionally, you can confirm that the VerifAid program has received your donation by contacting us at 09271327819.

How can donors ensure that donations made to VerifAid organizations reach beneficiaries?
The application process requires a project proposal, which outlines the public solicitation activity including the work and financial plan of the donation drive. It is the responsibility of the organization to provide a transparency report for its efforts. Failure to do so will incur the termination of the organization's VerifAid Certificate.
